Ever attuned to the needs of children, the local ski schools offer both group and private ski classes, with all-day childcare available on request so that children have a good time while parents carve their way down the slopes. With Tratterhof’s non-stop ski shuttle, you can reach the slopes directly in just a few minutes.

When you need a break, the many Alpine huts in the ski resort will welcome you into their cosy parlours, where you can warm up with a hot chocolate or stack up on calories with an indulgent Kaiserschmarrn. Among the many attractions geared towards families, the Brimi Winter Run toboggan run on Mt. Gitschberg is a big favourite, ensuring an extra-long, fun-packed descent that – snow permitting – goes from the mountain station all the way down to Meransen.

And when you step away from the ski runs… the fun continues, with plenty of outdoor experiences waiting for you. Take your children to the open-air ice rink in Vals for an exciting ice-skating day, or head to Meransen for a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride or even a hike with lamas. In summer, the Gitschberg Jochtal Ski and Holiday Area welcomes you with vast natural landscapes and a range of facilities and experiences specifically designed for families with children. Among these are the theme parks on Mt. Gitschberg and Mt. Jochtal, both located right by the lift mountain stations. Children and adults can look forward to creative games, opportunities to exercise in nature and exciting discoveries that will turn every hike into a real adventure.

If you are visiting during selected periods in the off-season, the complimentary tourist card you receive on check-in at your accommodation will allow you to use the local lift facilities for free. This way, you can effortlessly climb up to around 2,000 metres and enjoy a variety of mountain experiences without worrying about little feet getting tired. From the mountain stations, numerous easy trails wind their way through the Alpine landscape, offering families the perfect conditions for a day out. Many routes are pram-friendly and designed to keep little hikers entertained throughout.
