6. What is the closest ski area and how far is it from the Tratterhof?
The nearest ski area is about 1.5 km from the Tratterhof. It is the ski area Gitschberg-Jochtal.
The ski area around the “Gitsch” - that’s what the beautifully shaped mountain is called by the local people - lies above Maranza/Meransen at an ideal altitude of 1,400 to 2,500 metres. Best snow and slope conditions to both ski and snowboard fans are guaranteed from the beginning of December to Easter due to modern snow grooming machines and artificial snow.
In the ski area Gitschberg-Jochtal you find about 44 km of white slopes. Other ski areas near Maranza/Meransen are:
  • Plose – about 40 km of slopes (35 minutes by car)
  • Plan di Corones/Kronplatz – about 105 km of slopes (40 minutes by car)
  • Sellaronda (50 minutes by car)

7. Are there any ski rentals and ski schools in the area and can they be booked in advance?
In Maranza/Meransen there are two ski rentals which both rent ski equipment of the best quality and which always offer their clients a great choice of the newest skis and boots.
Sport Mode Peppi
Rent a Sport
Both rentals are situated at the lower terminus of the Gitschberg cablecar. Guests of the Tratterhof get a reduction of 10%. Our skischool Gitschberg consists of professional and certified ski and snowboard instructors. The ski kindergarden can be warmly recommended. The ski school can be booked right there or already in advance dialling the number 0039 0472 20 202 or by sending an e-mail to skischule.gitschberg@rolmail.net . You can get additional information on www.gitschberg-jochtal.com

8. Can we purchase hiking maps, guide books etc at your place?
At the Tratterhof we are well-equipped in matters of hiking. You can either borrow or buy hiking maps of our holiday region or of other popular hiking areas in our surrounding. Furthermore, we’ll lend you ultra light hiking poles made of carbon, Salewa-rucksacks and Salewa drinking bottles.
In short, our house offers you everything the hiking soul may wish for.

9. Do you also offer cancellation insurance and if so, how can it be taken out?
We warmly recommend all our guests to take out cancellation insurance as a lot may happen before starting and also during your holidays. Think ahead and take out our cancellation insurance. The price of the European Cancellation Insurance recommended to us amounts to 5 % of the overall cost of your stay.
And purchasing it is as easy as this: You simple click here once and open a link, fill in the opened form, transfer the premium and then get the confirmation via e-mail or telephone. That’s all you need to do.

10. Would you recommend to book treatments like massages in advance or is it enough if we book them at our arrival?
We recommend you to book massage and beauty treatments from home as you can then determine the day and time of the day you prefer.
Here you find our offers of massages and beauty treatments.
Should you prefer to book our treatments during your stay, you can certainly do so, but you will need to be slightly more flexible as the appointments, especially those in the afternoon after 3 pm, are often booked up.

11. How does the Almencard work?
On your arrival you get your personal Almen Card. It is valid until your departure and enables you to use all three cable cars of the holiday region Gitschberg-Jochtal for free, to take part in an exciting hiking programme and to enjoy discounts in various shops of the area. There is a varied programme for kids, too.
The hikes offered take place from Monday to Friday. They mainly focus on certain topics like: hiking to the summit of the Gitschberg; hiking from alpine farm to alpine farm in Fundres/Pfunders and visiting one of them, historical-cultural hikes with guided tour through an air-raid shelter dating from wartimes, sunrise-walks and … much more ( the programme depends on the weather and may therefore be changed or adapted)
We warmly recommend our guests to always carry their Almen Card with them in their rucksack.
